Click here to see the full photo album from our Stories of Transformation How Milwaukee Succeeds event. I will share videos of our storytellers within the next two weeks.I also want to thank Eric Christophersen for accepting our first Corporate Citizenship Award on behalf of Northwestern Mutual. Northwestern Mutual was recognized for their significant and longstanding commitment to improving education for all children in the City of Milwaukee.
Northwestern Mutual contributions go far beyond corporate philanthropy. As a company, they give meaningful thought to how they can participate as change agents and work collaboratively with all sectors to understand issues, develop solutions, and drive towards measurable changes. Their financial donations, the in-kind contributions of their staff, and unique commitment to systems-level change makes Northwestern Mutual an invaluable corporate partner in our work and a leader in our community.

I am so pleased and proud of what our community is accomplishing together for our kids. Without all of our dedicated community partners and stakeholders, none of this would be possible. As Ellen Gilligan, President & CEO, Greater Milwaukee Foundation said, “We are on a journey. On Thursday night, we were reminded clearly why we began this journey. While there is still much work to be done, our destination and purpose are clear. Thank you for reminding us so clearly why we are in this work together.”Finally, I am excited to announce Catina Harwell-Young as the new Goal 4 Manager for Social and Emotional Learning!
Catina Harwell-Young, Goal 4 Manager for Social and Emotional Health
Catina brings over 20 years of non-profit management experience to her role as Goal 4 Manager. A Milwaukee native, she is a staunch advocate for quality education, youth empowerment and civic engagement to go forward.
Under a new partnership, the Goal 4 Manager position will be housed at the Center for Youth Engagement (CYE). The partnership will ensure continuity between Milwaukee Succeeds and Beyond the Bell, CYE’s flagship initiative that aims to ensure young people are engaged in high-quality, coordinated out-of-school time opportunities. Since out-of-school time is a critical space for youth social emotional development, leveraging the resources of each initiative will help to improve and scale social and emotional wellbeing citywide.
