But seriously, after one of the most divisive campaigns in memory, “healing” seems to be the word of the hour. I plan to spend our nation’s oldest tradition to focus on our blessings as Americans … on what unites us, not on what divides us.
I’m grateful for my team, our co-chairs, educators, policymakers and the organizations that stepped up, united and committed to support the strategies Milwaukee Succeeds. I’m thankful for everyone who has advocated our shared vision of success for every child, in every school, cradle to career. It has taken a tremendous amount of time, talent, resources and investment to align the community under Milwaukee Succeeds, but the programs are now in place and the improvement is tangible. Too often we forget to slow down and consider the impact people have on us and the impact we have on them.
Without all of our dedicated community partners and stakeholders, none of this would be possible.
If you missed our stories of transformation, or if you were in attendance, please take a moment to watch the video created by Front Room Photography.
I know you will be inspired by this two minute video – it really showcases our positive and unifying night of networking and storytelling.
Special thanks to Executive Director of Ex Fabula, Megan McGee for coaching our presenters. Thank you Megan for bringing their stories to life! Also, thank you to Front Room Photography for capturing all of the special moments for us to share.
In his 1863 proclamation, Lincoln reminded Americans that the Civil War would eventually end. He asked them to look beyond the current horrors to a better day, when the country “is permitted to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom.”
Lincoln’s Thanksgiving proclamation was profoundly hopeful, reminding the American people of the nation’s capacity for renewal. It’s a message that resonates today.
See you soon,
